The Defense Wins: Stan Thiebaud Obtains Defense Verdict in Williamson County, Texas

A Williamson County jury returned a verdict on March 12, 2011, in favor of an interventional cardiologist defended by Thiebaud Remington Thornton Bailey LLP following a five-day trial. The unsuccessful plaintiff had sought more than $2 million in damages.
The case arose from complications of a percutaneous coronary intervention (angioplasty) procedure performed by the defendant physician. The procedure, an alternative to open-heart surgery, involved placement of a stent in a partially blocked coronary artery to maintain blood flow. The patient suffered unfortunate complications from the procedure, including perforation of the right coronary artery, stent thrombosis and a stroke. The jury found that no negligence of the physician was responsible for the complications.
TRTB’s trial team included partner Stan Thiebaud and legal nurse consultant Karen Cook-Henderson.
